Guided Group Tours

Iron Donkey guided supported tours are for those who prefer to tour with others in the company of knowledgeable local guides. Departures are scheduled, and most are one week itineraries.

The greater security that comes with a group tour appeals to those who may not be entirely comfortable with the idea of travelling unsupported in unfamiliar surroundings. Advantages of a group tour include the following:

The presence of a sag wagon means that you do not have to worry about having to complete a route in the event of a change in the weather, or if the hills become a bit too challenging.
The group dynamics are a big part of any group tour, and the group identity that evolves is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the whole experience.
Solo travellers acquire travelling companions with whom to share the day's experiences over dinner.
The flexibility with respect to the biking routes is ideal for couples or travelling companions where one has greater cycling experience and/or ambition then the other.
A guide who knows the region intimately is an obvious asset to any tour. Besides being an invaluable source of information about the region the guide will also be on hand to answer your questions and to solve any problems that you may encounter along the way.

Guided group tours are classified according to the level of accommodations.

Usually we do not classify our guided group tours with regard to difficulty. Since sag support is an integral part of the tours, cyclists of all abilities can enjoy most itineraries. Where a particular guided itinerary is not suitable for the full range of abilities, that information is included in the trip description.
