Lap the Lough is Ireland's biggest one day challenge ride, taking you on minor roads around Lough Neagh – the largest lake in the British Isles (Britain or Ireland).
The total ride distance is 87miles or 140km – not short by any means, but since the terrain is mostly flat, it is within the capabilities of both club/regular riders and occasional riders who are up for a bit of a challenge and who are prepared to put in a bit of training in advance.
In 2010 Lap the Lough will take place on Sunday 29th August. Full details of the event can be found on the Lap the Lough website at www.lapthelough.org. Lap the Lough supports many worthwhile causes and you may want to use your participation to get sponsorship towards a charity close to your heart.
Iron Donkey Bicycle Touring, in association with Lap the Lough is offering Lap the Lough packages aimed principally at those from England, Scotland and Wales who would like to participate in the ride and combine it with a two night break in Belfast.
The cost of the package is £170 per person sharing. The package consists of 2 nights shared hotel accommodation in central Belfast with breakfast, transfers between Belfast International and Belfast City Airports and the hotel(s), and transfer for you and your bike to and from the start /finish point. Your Lap the Lough Registration fee of £25 is also included in the package price.
Bike rental will be available for those who choose not to bring their own bikes. Please contact us for more details of bike rentals.
The Lap the Lough package is offered strictly according to availability, on a first come, first served basis. Once you have been advised of availability you will be required to pay in full to confirm your booking. Payment is non-refundable, so you should make sure that you have travel insurance in place.
